Nguyen Thanh Binh

Nguyen Thanh Binh

Nguyễn Thanh Bình is known for his paintings of young women, ballet dancers, and mother-and-child imagery, composed in a romantic realist style that has remained distinctive and unique for over three decades. It is difficult to fully grasp his painting practice by merely glancing at works that may initially appear similar, without an understanding of their underlying artistic foundations. From familiar subjects, he is able to extract diverse perspectives in posture, movement, and presence, leading to complex constructions of meaning.

In many scenes depicting young women, he does not focus on detailed facial portrayal; instead, it is the posture of the figures themselves that evokes a wide range of emotional states and inner life.
