Ta Thi Thanh Tam

Ta Thi Thanh Tam

Painter Tạ Thị Thanh Tâm, born in 1960 in Hanoi, is a gentle voice within contemporary Vietnamese art. Throughout her career, she has remained devoted to rural themes, recording images of women, children, bamboo hedges, and rice fields through simple compositions and a tranquil color palette. Working with dó paper, silk, and lacquer, her artworks transcend surface aesthetics to become moments of memory: time seems to slow, emotions are guided by soft lines and flat planes of color.

Her paintings do not proclaim; they invite quiet contemplation, offering a sense of peace, compassion, and nostalgia. Within this rustic simplicity lie reflections on perseverance, human affection, and the bond between people and the motherland. Tạ Thị Thanh Tâm paints to preserve and to connect: each work is a doorway leading viewers back to a realm of memory, helping them rediscover simplicity and faith in things that are modest yet profound. Her works have been exhibited widely both in Vietnam and internationally, leaving a distinctive mark of an authentically Vietnamese “spirit of the countryside.”
