Nguyen Dinh Dung

Painter Nguyễn Đình Dũng, born in 1943, is a self-taught artist and has been regarded as one of the leading figures of Vietnamese fine art since the 1980s. Renowned for subjects such as tuồng (classical theatre), women in áo dài, cockfighting, horse figures, and street scenes, his paintings are characterized by a modern visual language with bold, contrasting blocks of primary color, charged with emotion while still retaining a strong sense of Vietnamese tradition.

To this day, he remains faithful to these traditional themes, painting in a calm and unhurried manner. His works continue to feel fresh, youthful, and possess a distinctive appeal that strongly engages viewers.
